Indian captain Rohit Sharma achieved a significant milestone by becoming the sixth Indian and the 15th overall in international cricket to reach 10,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

This remarkable feat was accomplished during India's Asia Cup Super 4 clash against Sri Lanka. During the match, Rohit Sharma showcased his prowess by sending a ball from Sri Lanka's Kasun Rajitha sailing over the boundary ropes for a six, marking his entry into the exclusive 10,000-run club.

Remarkably, this achievement came just a day after Kohli set a new record by becoming the fastest batsman to reach the 13,000-run mark in ODIs, accomplishing it in a mere 267 innings.

Rohit's journey to 10,000 ODI runs was nothing short of extraordinary, as he accomplished this milestone in just 241 innings, making him the second-fastest player to do so after Kohli, who achieved it in 205 innings. This remarkable achievement places Rohit among the elite group of Indian cricketing legends who have crossed the 10,000-run mark, including Sachin Tendulkar (18,426 runs), Virat Kohli (13,026), Sourav Ganguly (11,363), Rahul Dravid (10,889), and MS Dhoni (10,773).

Aside from his run-scoring prowess, Rohit holds various other records in the ODI format. He stands as the only player in the history of the game to have scored three double centuries in 50-overs cricket. His highest individual score of 264 against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens in November 2014 remains an unparalleled achievement in the world of cricket.

Rohit's journey to ODI greatness began in November 2013 when he recorded his first double century, scoring an impressive 209 against Australia. Four years later, he showcased his brilliance once again by smashing an unbeaten 208 against Sri Lanka at Mohali in December 2017.

Rohit's consistent performances have also seen him amass 30 centuries in ODIs, placing him in joint-third position with former Australian captain Ricky Ponting for the most ODI hundreds.

Additionally, he ranks third on the list of batters with the most sixes in the ODI format, further solidifying his reputation as one of the most dynamic and accomplished cricketers of his generation.
